My wardrobe was once a mass of black but somehow, without me realising until last week, that has radically changed. My closet has shifted into a sea of blue which had me thinking last week "what the actual f' am I going to wear this winter"? I had an in depth conversation with my sister about it (FYI I promise our in depth conversations are usually much more meaningful than this!) but yes, that is how lost I feel this year in the style stakes as I wave goodbye to Summer. Hey, happens to the best of us right? I feel absolutely confused - caught between my summery, coastal self and my street style loving fashion addict who is monochrome and minimalist mad. What to do? Get creative!
As the temperature drops and the time to start asking "what is next" dawns upon us, I decided to play around with blue, a colour not often touted as suitable for A/W, to see what I could come up with. I styled 3 different blue dresses from St Frock to showcase how to take a piece which would normally be strictly kept in the Summer section of your wardrobe into the cooler months...
Part 1 - The Floral Dress

Add Leather
Nothing toughens up a look better than leather, a well tailored jacket like this works with a floaty midi dress by creating shape through the torso and contrast well with the soft tones and floral print of the dress. While slightly slouchier leather jackets work well with shorts or skinny jeans, they don't balance well over a dress especially a dress which sits below the knee. Slightly cropped is the way to go.

Add a tough boot
Nothing pairs better with a feminine dress than a tough boot. Look for an ankle cut with hard wear detailing. A slight heel helps to extend the leg and avoid ruining the flattering line of a dress without being too uncomfortable.

Small Frames
Look for smaller sunglasses in a round or square style to add some edge. Silver detailing ties this pair in with the hardwear on the leather jacket and boots. Keep your hair and makeup simple and let the dress do the talking.
