While spending a couple of days in Manly might not count as a "holiday" I always feel refreshed, inspired and ready to get back into life after I visit this little part of Sydney. I spent some time here over the weekend to see off my little sister before she heads off to the states for another big adventure (the fact I have never been and she is going back for visit number 3 makes me ultra jealous but also oh-so-happy for her)!
There are a few things I really appreciate about Manly - it is close to the City but feels a million miles away, the beach is always calm and accessible and generally it is super easy to get around. I also love the readily available fresh, healthy food on offer; the active lifestyle and positive vibe here is conducive to feeling clean, healthy and refreshed which I absolutely always do after I leave. So yes, I adore the City but one of the best things about the Northern Beaches is that you would be forgiven for thinking you are no where near Sydney at all.
Stay
Manly Beach is AirBnb town - literally, the options are endless. Choose a place right in town so you can walk to the beach, main streets, shops, cafes and bars or go for one of the hotels in the area, such as Novotel or The Sebel which are both conveniently located and easy to get to. There are a million parks and fun places for kids to run around here and the beach is just over the road so everything you need is at your fingertips.

Check Out
The main beach of course, but also head up to Shellys Beach and over on the harbour side, Little Manly Cove for some a protected water side tranquility.
There are also some great little boutiques around and beautiful florists in the area - White House Flowers is simply gorgeous and worth a look.

Eat & Drink
You can't go past Manly Wharf Bar - it is right on the water and absolutely beautiful at sunset. The food is decent but if you are after something a bit quieter, try one of the little restaurants across the road. Four Vines Japanese has a great vibe and some delicious little shared plates. In Situ is also a local favourite for great cocktails and Manly Wine can't be beaten for a quiet glass overlooking the main beach.
For a healthy cafe, Ruby Lane Wholefoods is an all time favourite. The menu is fresh, creative and filling with an elevated seating area which has plenty of room so you can completely relax while you eat.
