3 Ways To Style Stockings

To get the most out of your favourite summer pieces year round, stockings are the best way to extend your wardrobe as the months cool down. Your favourite shorts, skirts and dresses can be worn year round if you add stockings into the mix. Here are 3 ways to style stockings to take your Spring/summer wardrobe into Winter.

If you are looking for the right stockings, look no further than Pretty Pins - they offer a monthly stocking subscription service, with fresh pairs delivered to your door each month. Pretty Pins stockings are soft, sheer and high quality; perfect for comfort and every day wear. I love mine, I wear both the black and natural beige pair regularly and am excited to see the release of their new range coming soon!

Classic

Leather & The White Shirt

The White Shirt is the most versatile item in any wardrobe. Paired with leather, the "office" vibe of the shirt is taken away and by adding a statement red lip it pulls the whole look together. The key to this look is to mix up your textures - the crisp cotton, leather and sheen of the tights create good dimension and add interest while remaining classic and put together. Keep accessories to a minimum and play around with the shirt silhouette by using a belt or waist tie to cinch the waist.

Fun

The Pinafore Dress

The Pinafore Dress has been a big player in the style stakes for the last few seasons and is a great piece for year round styling. To take the Pinafore into Autumn/Winter, simply add stockings and either pair with a high neck singlet or long sleeve top. Ensure you stick to a tighter top to avoid adding bulk. A leather jacket is a great update for this look or keep it simple and go without. Add a fun statement accessory such as a layered choker to keep the look fun and steer away from being overly preppy.

Relaxed

Denim & The Oversized Knit

Denim cut-off's look great over tights - as long as they are relaxed but still quite fitted. A longer baggy style won't work. Added details like frayed hems and pockets showing below the hem offer a slight grunge look. Add biker boots and an oversized knit and you are good to go. Layer your rings to emphasis the grunge and add a felt hat for a bohemian, relaxed vibe. The key to this look is the volume of the knit and the easy, don't-give-a-damn appeal.
