Holiday Style

I have been curating and developing some fail proof holiday options for myself over the years but I paid particular attention to my suitcase packing this year as I spent so much time travelling up and down the coast from Manly to Batemans Bay to Narooma and back - it was a big coastal whirl wind and it was absolute magic.

The holiday mix is a tough one - packing limitations, dry skin, messy beach hair and the desire for absolute comfort can mean stumbling on some style road blocks. The step into holiday mode is always a welcome one and this holiday season I wanted to ensure my wardrobe enhanced my holiday rather than hindering it by being easy, versatile, lightweight and reflective of my desired vacation state (chill & content!)

Levi's

A known favourite of mine, I found my vintage Levi cut offs coming out to play almost everyday. Paired back over a cute one piece, or styled with a relaxed cami or double denim, I found this the easiest and most "chill" option in my suitcase. Find your fit and pack plenty.

Birkenstocks

What could be more comfortable or easy than a pair of well worn Birks? I mainly wore these to and from the beach or out for coffee runs. I don't often style Birkenstocks with anything other than shorts or jeans because I find them too clumpy for dresses but I did pair them with a playsuit a couple of times and the balance was just right.

Playsuits

The playsuit has never been so "now", you can't walk past a shop or jump on The Iconic without being swept up in the playsuit flood and this is the best news for style/comfort lovers everywhere. Playsuits have the softness of a dress but the practicality of shorts. My collection grows regularly - I found a gorgeous vintage palm tree version in a pre-loved store and also found this pink (shock horror for this monochrome girl) at a market and couldn't resist.

The High Neck Bikini & The One Piece

The one piece is my go-to for swimwear now, I love a good low cut option which enhances the bust and is forgiving for the rest. This stripy version is far from my usual style but I fell in love with the Riviera stripes and it is now an absolute favourite. The high neck bikini top is also a favourite, it flatters the shoulders and creates a good shape while also being practical especially in the surf - no bikini mishaps like the triangle has!

Sunglasses & Hats

You can never have too many sunnies and hat options on holiday, it is the easiest way to mix up an outfit and takes up hardly any room in your luggage. I like to go with a pair of classic black of sunnies, a fun statement pair and some reflective aviators.

I love a woven fedora for the beach and an over sized felt or straw hat to mix it up when going for lunch or exploring the area. I am 100% committed to not adding any freckles to my face over Summer and basically had a hat on at all times!

The most important thing you can pack on your holiday is your commitment to be in the moment, run around, be silly, let it all go and connect with what truly matters. I made the decision to drop the whole New Years Resolution idea this year and instead focus on having more fun, being present in the moment and slowing down.

The goals haven't gone away, there are many things I want to achieve this year but my approach will be more organic and focused. I want to enjoy the journey as much as the destination and I want to experience my days as they happen rather than living in the future. The here and now is all we have and to know that is great but to feel that and live that changes everything x
