7 Must Haves For The Holidays

Now is the perfect time to have some fun with holiday style and add a few "must haves" to your Summer wardrobe. Think fresh, clean, ocean side pieces that are wearable, affordable and easy to style. The key to buying for the holiday season is to invest in comfort - this means natural fibres, relaxed fits and a neutral colour palette. While separates are fun, I recommend getting one off pieces which take out the guess work such as playsuits and dresses which are easy to style and fuss free. In the warmer months, it is best to stick to simple outfits and play around with sunglasses, jewellery, hats and bags to add detail.

The Holiday Season Edit...

The Playsuit

Whether going coastal, heading to a Christmas party or stuck for a New Years outfit, I favor a playsuit/romper because it isn't too stiff or formal but can easily be dressed up with a good shoe. Playsuits are having a big moment right now, there is no shortage of styles to select from. I tend to opt for one that isn't too short, no one likes the little bit of butt hanging out! I also like a longer sleeve and cross over front to counteract showing so much leg.

My pick is the Realm Scallop Playsuit by Zimmerman - $340

The Sandal

The shoe I can't get enough of right now is the lace up sandal with tassel detail. The added detail of the lace up strings makes a statement and is very versatile, going with just about any dress, skirt or pant. Senso does shoes like no other and have a few great variations. Visit The Iconic for a great range of Senso shoes with free shipping!

My pick is the 'Freddie' in Ebony matt or suede by Senso - $249.00

The One Piece

The bikini is officially out, the one piece has become the coveted swimwear piece this season. The choices are endless, but my personal favourites involve details and cut outs to keep it sexy and steer away from the Speedo vibe. I love mesh panels, monochrome looks, or leopard print and structure is important - flimsy deep v cuts can be difficult to wear/move in.

My pick is the 'Oleander Ring One Piece' by Zimmerman - $260.00

The Straw Hat

I am all about the wide brimmed, woven straw hat. The bigger the better and rough edges are a must! The idea is to look relaxed beach babe rather than polished Riviera girl.

My pick is the Brixton Morrison hat from Princess Polly - $140.00

The Sunglasses

I have a bit of a sunglasses addiction. My collection is a little out of control but the beauty of sunglasses is undeniable, they can transform an outfit and your face. Sunglasses right now are going reflector crazy with every colour and style available in high reflection it is one big, bright rainbow. While I love my blue reflective aviators and gold Lennon shapes, I can't go past classic back. Black shades go with everything and pull a look together to give a chic, timeless look.

My pick is the 'Odin' pair by Quay from Stelly - $50.00

The Bag

Summer calls for ease and freedom, so ditch the big carry all tote and find a compact cross body bag. Look for details such as tassels or interesting straps and stick to black, tan or nude to ensure it goes with everything in your wardrobe.

My pick is the Nola Crossbody Bag from Witchery - $99.95

The Just Because

We all have that one fun 100% Summer piece each year. While a towel might seem like a fun purchase, you can opt for a super lightweight version which doubles as a wrap around sarong to get the best use out of it. There is something special about taking to the beach with a new and stylish towel and it is practical too, so investing in a new one each season makes sense. The 'just because' piece should evoke summer day dreams and get you excited to hit the beach, pool or trip away and is the piece that gives you joy just by seeing it sitting around in your wardrobe.

My pick is the Mayde "Noose Towel" from Tuchuzy - $40.00

Happy holidaying x
